Big Air Day!

Woot, got some air today! This was a fun day, we took it a bit slow as it was our fourth day in a row and Scott was on a board for the first time. But, Dave and I practiced our aerial technique as shown in this picture.


That's about four feet of vertical and I'm grabbing the toe side edge of the board in a maneuver I'm calling, uhm, Frontside Air Supreme.


Dave was getting the hang of it too as you can see in his, uhm, Wicked Ollie.

Winter 2015 Training Plan

I took quite a bit of time to put together my winter training schedule. I've developed a new role with my friends and training partners - that of trainer! What I have done is developed a plan to slowly boost cardio fitness while focusing on upper body strength. Still my weakness even after some big gains last year. Some of my friends may remember how much I struggled to find answers for why I suddenly could not run and kick a soccer ball at the same time. I would literally fall over in the middle of the field. I remember one of the refs who we would often see, look over at me on the bench and ask, 'Are you injured?'. I think I was too tired to do other than just nod. Middle of the game, my eyes would go all blurry and it was a struggle to sit up straight. After a few months of testing and questioning I was diagnosed conclusively with MS by way of MRI and a couple of spinal taps. The good news was that a week of steroids had pushed back the inflammation in my brain so that I was nearly back to normal - about 95%! It is still a continual struggle agains

Chilling at the Cape House

For the first time really. I'm upstairs, figuring out some blog things, learning how to publish pictures from my cameraphone directly to my vacation blog. http://forestonet.blogspot.com I feel OK as far as my symptoms, I'm logging those on a Google calendar which is private, I will keep it updated with my symptoms, severity etc for myself and my Dr. I'm still feeling kinda funky due to the steroids, but sticking to the prescribed meds to make this all as easy as possible. Being able to enjoy going up and down the stairs and actually doing things has been such a positive experience that I'm having a hard time not thinking about things getting worse again. Heck, one of the worst things this morning was that my toes started to hurt! I usually can't feel them! Going to enjoy lunch and then sit and finish Friday by Robert A. Heinlein.
